📐 Bridging Maths & Real-World Careers: Richard Shroll Visits Wrotham School

We are proud to share that our Managing Director, Richard Shroll, recently visited Wrotham School to deliver a talk to Upper School Maths students about the role of mathematics in trade and construction industry careers.

During his time at the school, Richard:

 •        Shared real examples of how mathematical skills drive decisions in engineering, construction, manufacturing and commercial operations

•        Showed students how core topics like algebra, geometry, statistics and financial maths underpin practical applications

•        Encouraged pupils to see maths not just as a subject to pass, but as a powerful enabler of opportunity

•        Spoke candidly about his own professional journey, challenges and successes

It was rewarding to see students asking thoughtful questions about how they might use maths in future careers, and to observe their energy and curiosity.

I’ve had a look at the feedback from students and your name comes up A LOT in the question when I asked them if there was someone specific they’d like to thank! I think more of them were worried about learning ratios than they’d admit before and you’ve given them such confidence. Overall, they wanted to say thank you for being so generous with your advice, insights and for being so friendly and supportive – I couldn’t have said it better myself.

-        Mrs Hollinshead, Careers Lead, Wrotham School

A big thank you to the staff and careers team at Wrotham School for inviting us. We believe this kind of engagement is vital to help young people connect what they learn in school with the real world of work.

If any schools would like us to deliver similar sessions or partner on careers events, we’d love to explore opportunities.
